KARINA BARNARD
Karina's work is varied, as she enjoys using a number of media, including soft pastel, watercolour, ink, ground pigments, and mixed media.
Her artwork has been exhibited at the Royal Art Society of NSW, and various Sydney shows, including being a finalist in the Hunters Hill Art Show 2023.
She particularly enjoys water reflections in soft pastel, and fine detail in watercolour, such as bird life.
Karina is a multi award-winning calligrapher and is a current member of the Australian Society of Calligraphers. She explores both contemporary, gestural marks and traditional scripts using flat and raised gilding. She likes creating experimental letterforms through the use of negative space.
A special moment for her was having a commissioned work in 2017 presented to the recipient by the Governor of NSW of the time, Dame Marie Bashir.
