Another one of our own very talented members, Dr Robyn Coleman  will give a talk and demonstration on the beautiful hand made Earth pastels. These extra special pastels are made from natural materials and have an exquisite subtle tonal range.  We will let Robyn explain and show more in this talk.

A Sydney-based artist specializing in earth pastels, with a focus on maritime and landscape subjects. Associate member of the Royal Art Society and exhibiting member of the Australian Society of Marine Artists. Robyn is a member of many artist associations and has been the recipient of numerous awards.
Robyn has studied under Master Pastellist Greg Hansell for many years, specialising in Gregs hand made pastels “ Earth pastels”.
Artistic Statement as noted by Greg Hansell F.R.A.S.: "Robyn has a natural and unique way of expressing the visual reality of people and places that have meaning in her life. The use of natural earth pastels simplifies her palette and lets the natural patterns and designs of the subject come to the front."

MONO PRINTING WORKSHOP

RACHEL CARROLL

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27, 2026 9.30am - 3.30pm

Rachel Carroll generated quite a bit of interest after her wonderful Mono printing demonstration for us in 2025. We are very lucky to have  secured this very busy and talented artist for this one day workshop on Mono printing in September 2026.

Rachel will again be using the gelli plates in this workshop and to make it easy Rachel will provide the gelli plates for us to use.  All you have to do is bring your enthusiasm, acrylic paints, paper.  The paper that works best for this type of mono printing is the very ordinary and inexpensive type that you would use in your home printer.  80Gsm is perfect, don't buy expensive or heavy weight paper.   A materials list, and best colours will be provided closer to the date.

About RACHEL CARROLL
Rachel has been a practising artist for over 25 years. As a COFA Graduate Rachel explored the Murray Darling River Basin which culminated in a future 13-year journey throughout the region in a variety of trips. After achieving a Master’s in Fine Art Rachel continued her journey into remote and endangered locations. Recently returning to familiar family holiday locations such as Hill-End and then finally making it the RED centre and exploring all that is red in this amazing country. An environmentalist at heart she is always trying to connect us with the natural world, via landscape predominantly but also through images of flowers in still-life and studies of birds, all culminating into the bigger artistic journey.
“If I can immerse the viewer in the experience of a landscape, to celebrate the landscape, and to gather an understanding and an appreciation of what we have in this vast country and take an interest in the ancient knowledge that exists in this country. Then I feel I have done my job as an artist.”

Rachel works in a variety of materials oil painting, print making (mono-printing), encaustic, mixed media and acrylics.
Carroll is a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute, The Royal Art Society and the Tree Veneration Society.
