Martin is a figurative painter and sculptor, who has broadened his scope to embrace his own abstract realities in both mediums. His work in paint is brightly coloured, festive and optimistic, soothing and restful, reflected in his smaller sketches of Australian landscapes. His work in oil paint tends to be larger, more dramatic but no less colourful, envisaging Australian scenes both urban and bush. Over the last four years in moving into marble sculpture, studying at the Atelier of Al Nassar in Carrara; his works have taken on more understandably figurative forms derived from close study where shaping in both marble and bronze, he is able to abstract his ideas in a pleasing manner in a distinct quest for beauty in movement.
